groundswell: /ˈɡroun(d)ˌswel/; noun
1. a broad deep undulation of the ocean caused by an often distant gale or seismic disturbance
2. a rapid spontaneous growth (as of political opinion)
Year-rounders rely on a Cape Cod swap shop as a place of economic and a social support. But when the summer rolls in, the "Yankee Candles" start swarming, creating annual upheaval amongst the working-class townies and the wealthy tourists. When the town's preservation society wants to tear down the swap shop and turn it into a flea market, tensions boil over.
An exploration in small-town vs. townie allegiances, and what is at risk when the town "dump" is about to be scrapped.

At every show we produce we collect donations for an organization that aligns with the themes explored in that production.
At Groundswell, we will be collecting donations for Right to the City.
Right to the City is a locally based organization which “seeks to create regional and national impacts in the fields of housing, human rights, urban land, community development, civic engagement, criminal justice, environmental justice, and more.” They have a focus on the need to “halt the displacement of low-income people, people of color, marginalized LGBTQ communities, and youths of color from their historic urban neighborhoods.”
We raised $30 thanks to our audience's generous donations.
